Landlord charged with threatening his tenants
These unions are bullying our leaders into ridiculous contracts. City and town negotiators need to start sending messages to these unions that enough is enough. If the unions balk at a contract, then don't hire them. Replace them with a private workforce . Eventually, these union guys (if they are actually qualified enough) will end up working for the private workforce.
It will initially be painful for most cities and towns, but eventually it will be accepted and start working in our favor. The initial pain will still be better than the prolonged agony that these greedy unions are placing on us now and into the future.
We need to stand up and say ENOUGH to these bullies. They are the minority. The people that pay their ridiculous expenses are the majority.
All officers and union abusers, please respond with your irrelevant examples of why you and your unions should be allowed to continue fleecing the public.
any flagger I encounter.
They are not qualified to do what I
am trained to do.
Oh, wait - maybe it's attempting to direct traffic around a work zone when no direction is needed causing a bottleneck and backups during commute times?
Ohhhh, wait. I have it now: It's standing around with a gun feeling superior to all those around you while you collect huge overtime pay for doing not much of anything. Yeah, that's the ticket.
I love how talking on a cell-phone while drinking a cup of coffee is considered a professional skill only police can do.
They never direct traffic either. I mean what is there job actually? just stand there?
I only suggest to you this bit of advice. Allow for extra time in the morning to check all of your lights and make sure there's no bulbs out, I would hate to have to write a ticket for that. Oh and that conversation in the morning you have with your friend or significant other, that sounds like negligent operation of a motor vehicle to me.
A real cop enforces law, doesn't break it!
why so many of people don't trust the police. you think that you are above the law.
Everyone knows that details are a joke - especially all you cops.
any flagger I encounter"
Just the reaction I would expect from you!
"Qualified" What a joke!!!!
Qaulified ? what to look in a hole, to sit in your car eating doughnuts and drinking coffee? The GRAVY TRAINS OVER!!!
I am going to personally harrass
any flagger I encounter.
waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
They are not qualified to do what I
am trained to do. waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
they are going to be trained also you nitwit.
what are you trained for eating donuts and getting fat???
On your last sentence, you are a bigger idiot than you suggest if YOU bought this paper. We're all online here. Nobody pays for the paper online.
But please keep commenting. It can only get richer.
I don't think that any cop who is out there breaking the law should be allowed to keep his job. After all, they were hired to uphold it not break it.
Rob? I_am_a_cop? Can you explain?
Use spell check first if you can figure it out, thanks.
You guys are full of it and your bully tactics will LOSE.
This is proven by your "need" to be back in at 4, If you work 12-8 why do you "need" to be back at 4?
You want some cheese with that whine?
And if you were commenting about me posting during work hours, well, buddy, I would LOVE to be working right now, but unfortunately, I'm one of the casualties of this horrible economy. The company I worked for went out of business, and I'm on the computer searching for new employment.
Are you feeling large now? No? Go put your gun on, then. Feel large now? Yeah, I thought so.
I'm pretty sure they explained the rotating shift before you got the job so if you don't like it find a job you do.
The world needs more bartenders.
I travel to other states and many a state do not use a police detail, but civilian flag people. Funny how that works for other states.
Did you earn the Peggy Hill substitute teacher of year for superiority yet?
Good luck with that.

First, not ALL details will be manned by civilian flaggers. the cops will still own over 70% of the action, don't act like ALL the cops lost ALL the details. This will be much less of an impact than they are claiming.
Second, on local town roads, it will be up to the town.
TODAY I saw TWO Danvers cops on a road detail for less than 2 hours, they were on Columbia Rd. (speed limit 20 mph), between 10am and noon. ONE civilian flagger could have EASILY controlled the VERY few cars wihich travel down that road in the late morning.
As for the threats I have been reading in this and other forums by alleged cops, you have NO RIGHT TO PRIVACY on this , or other sights when you make your pathetic threats.
Fire the cops just like Regan fired the air traffic controllers!
Don't agree with their similar politics, it must be race right?
Idiot.....
Could you or somebody else please elaborate on why privatizing would be a bad idea? Just wondering.
Same thing in Arlington / Town got Mass Highway property
I agree that some cops, like every other professional group of people, have idiots who use their passion and enthusiasm in a counter-productive manner (see Woburn incident). I am aware that these people are the ones who get the media attention. I will be the first to say though that this is a small number of the police population. For most, paid details are a second job. Police salaries dont cover rising costs of living etc. that all of us are dealing with. Flagmen are only getting between $3-$8 more an hour than police. Police have also agreed to be paid the state wage in some cases. So for the same wage, do you want extra cops on the road or some civilian crossing guard? Questions about this wage rate, DO SOME RESEARCH!
It is also true about some not paying attention. Let me tell you though, the driver's inattention is what is dangerous. Instead of making blanket statements, take the civil service test in the Spring, make pennies for 6-7 months in the academy, and join a department.....unless you wont pass the backgound or are too fat to go over the wall, which is a possibility considering all the posts every day about details by the same people.
Prevailing wage is $8- $10 less than most details.
All utility companies and towns don't pay prevailing wage, only state funded jobs, flagmen in these cases cost $15- $20 dollars an hour and there is no reason they shouldn't be used on roads with 40 MPH or less speed limits.
I found the part when the cheif told his men, "they were the problem not the flaggers and to get out of there", most telling!
You could see what a public saftey issue the police really are.
had i had the brains i would have become a cop.
none of this mattered before duval got into government, he has a best friend that wants to start a flagman business, if i want to start white slavery i wonder if i was his friend would he change the law
